Adrenaline Cyber League: SK Gaming Win Their First LAN-Finals After A While
SK Gaming managed to win their first LAN-event in 2018, even though it was a smaller one. In the grand finals of Adrenaline Cyber League they defeated AVANGAR with the 3-1 score, receiving $65,000 in prize money.
The event was held on May 23-24 at Adrenaline Stadium in Moscow, Russia. Initially the organizers invited Gambit Esports, Virtus.pro and Natus Vincere, but Na`Vi decided to withdraw from the tournament due to a busy schedule and were replaced by SK Gaming. The last participant – AVANGAR – made it through the European closed qualifier.
The participating teams competed in a single-elimination playoffs bracket with best-of-three semifinals and best-of-five grand finals. In the semifinals AVANGAR defeated Virtus.pro (2-1), while Gambit Esports lost to SK Gaming (1-2). In the grand finals SK Gaming managed to gain the upper hand and finished the series with the 3-1 score after losing 7:16 at Cache and winning at Mirage (16:9), Inferno (16:6), and Dust II (16:3). This is the first victory for SK Gaming since December 2017, when they placed first at ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals. Recently they also changed the roster by replacing Epitácio "TACO" de Melo with Jacky "Stewie2K" Yip.
