Detailed Schedule for 2020 Worlds Revealed
It appears that despite the COVID-19 pandemic RIOT Games are indeed determined to held League of Legends World Championship in the coming months. The new details on the event have been revealed during the Tencent Global Esports Annual Summit – Leo Lin, CEO at Riot China, announced the full schedule of the event and shared information on the security measures.
2020 Worlds will begin with a Play-in stage, which will be played between September 25th and September 30th, featuring 12 teams competing for 4 teams in the main stage. The main event will be split into group stage, scheduled to start on October 3rd, and the Knockout Stage that will begin on October 15th. The grand finals will be played on October 31st.
Besides that, RIOT China’s representative stressed that they have prepared strict manuals and safety regulations. The company consulted with various medical specialists while preparing the event and will have a professional disinfection team on the job.
While the summer split is not over yet, some of the teams have already secured their places at 2020 Worlds. Among them are Top Esports and JD Gaming from China, G2 Esports, Fnatic and Rogue from Europe, and FlyQuest with Team Liquid from North America.
