PUBG Esports: Global Series with Four Major Events in 2020 Announced

PUBG Corp. have shared the first details on the upcoming PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds esports season. The biggest change is the introduction of PUBG Global Series (PGS), which will consist of four major global events. Meanwhile, the regional leagues such as NPL and PEL will no longer exist. The developers also stated that in 2020 we will see a higher amount of third-party events.

The PGS events will be held in April, July, October and November. The events will utilize the format that was used at PUBG Global Championship with 32 participants. The final event of the season will be PUBG Global Championship, while the first three will serve as major events on their own as well as qualifiers for PGС. The developers will release unique in-game items for each of the events, the sales of which will contribute to the prize pool of the respective events.

The first PGS event will be held in Berlin. The qualifiers will begin in February in most regions, including both online and offline components. Besides that, the top four teams of PGC 2019Gen.G, FaZe Clan, Four Angry Men and OGN Entus Force – were automatically invited for PGS: Berlin.
