Team Empire Takes Championship Title from OpTic at ROG Masters 2017
Dota 2 tournament ROG Masters 2017 has concluded on the weekends – in the Grand Finals Team Empire defeated OpTic Gaming with a 3-2 score.
ROG Masters 2017 was held on December 7-10 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center in Malaysia. The tournament featured six qualified teams, including OpTic Gaming, WarriorsGaming.Unity, Execration, Team Empire, PENTA Esports and Team MAX. They were seeded into two groups of three with best of two series. OpTic Gaming and Team Empire placed first in their groups and advanced to the semifinals, while the other teams made it to the quarterfinals. In the single-elimination playoff bracket OpTic defeated PENTA (2-0), while Team Empire outplayed WG.Unity (2-0). In the Grand Finals the teams played all five games, with the last one going in the bag of Team Empire. Although the tournament doesn’t come as a part of Dota Pro Circuit and hence doesn’t provide the Qualifier Points towards The International 2018, this is still a huge success for Team Empire as they’ve been hungry for results lately and $117,500 of prize money won’t go amiss.
