Astralis Are the Champions of ECS Season 6 Finals
Astralis managed to emerge victorious at the second ECS Finals event in a row. Yesterday the Danish team defeated the Brazilian squad MIBR in the grand finals of ECS Season 6 with the 3-2 score, claiming $250,000 in prize money. Earlier in June Astralis became champions of ECS Season 5.
The event was held on November 22-25 at Esports Stadium in Arlington, United States. First, eight participating teams were seeded into two GSL groups, where they competed in best-of-one and best-of-three series. Then top two teams from each group made it to the single-elimination playoffs bracket with both semifinals and grand finals being best-of-three.
Both MIBR and Astralis made it to the playoffs stage from Group A, where MIBR placed first after defeating mousesports (16:7) and Astralis (2-1), while Astralis defeated Cloud9 (16:3) and outplayed mousesports (2:0) in the decider match, placing second in the group. In the semifinals Astralis defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas (2-1), while North lost to MIBR (1-2). The final series concluded with the 2-0 score in favour of Astralis.
