ESL have announced their new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event, which will take place in New York in September and feature a $250,000 prize pool.

ESL One New York 2018 will have the same format as its last year’s iteration: eight participating teams (5 invited and 3 qualified), two GSL groups with best-of-three series, single-elimination playoffs bracket for 4 teams with best-of-three semifinals and best-of-five grand finals. The prize pool is set at $250,000, the tournament is also part of Grand Slam series – a team that first wins four events organized either by DreamHack or ESL will get additional $1,000,000 in prize money. The group stage will be held on September 26-28 behind the closed doors, while the playoffs stage will take place on September 29-30 at Barclays Center with live audience. The organizers have also announced an amateur match and a showmatch being held during the event.

The previous ESL One New York event took place at September 15-17, 2017. Astralis, FaZe Clan, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, SK Gaming, Virtus.pro were directly invited, while Team EnVyUs qualified from Europe and Cloud9 represented North America. In the grand finals FaZe Clan defeated Team Liquid (3-0), receiving $125,000 in prize money and their first point towards Grand Slam.
